People often use “yin” and “restorative” like they’re interchangeable.

But they’re doing different jobs.

Restorative is about deep ease, and yin is about a deliberate, gentle stress that supports mobility and resilience, and both support the parasympathetic nervous system when practiced well.

Restorative: the art of yielding

Restorative yoga is built on the principle of yielding - consciously surrendering tension to gravity (not collapsing). It’s comfort with impeccable standards. Nothing hanging. Everything supported.

Restorative asks:

“What if you let yourself be held?”

A restorative practice is like telling your body:

You can stop bracing now.
